When an employer requests a background check or other information beyond what is allowed by law, it is unlawful to inquire about an applicant's physical or mental health, pregnancy, or drug test results. What would happen if someone chose to come out as transgender? When is someone outed to their coworkers, and how do coworkers react? Is there an established procedure for informing new recruits about the organizational culture, diversity in the workplace, and opportunities for advancement? What kinds of benefits would someone with a transgender background receive? What if I'm attending a workshop or training session at work and the facilitator doesn't know me?
